2g Go Faster
Recipe
Stage 1
Introduction
The point of this stage is to
make the car a bit faster at as small a price as possible and has
the best chance of passing dealer inspection especially since
most of them are easily reversible.
The
boost gauge is NOT optional
-
Mechanical Boost Gauge ($65 + $25 for pod)
-
BOV Return / Dump Tube free or $5 to be reversible)
-
Blow Off Valve / Compressor By-Pass Valve ($85)
-
Boost Control Solenoid Restriction Removal
(free, pointless until you get a new BOV)
-
Upper IC Pipe ($75)
-
Cone Type Air Filter ($85)
Note: Although #4 is a nice
cheap mod which will raise boost. However, if oyu plan on getting
an aftermarket exhaust I highly recommend you go ahead and get
your hands on a quality manual boost controller. Because removing
the restrictor and using a aftermarket exhuast will give you some
bad problems with boost spike. The manual boost controller (MBC)
from either Buschur Racing (Hallman), Doug's Dynopower, Extreme
Motorsports, or Mark Hessler all work basically the same and make
for EXCELLENT controllers. Don't confuse these with simple
variable orifice valves. These are all spring and ball type
valves, which allow for maximum spool and minum spike. I have the
Buschur valve and it has much less boost spike than removing the
restrictor or a simple fish valve. But for the time being if you
want to wait to spend the money on a quality MBC that is fine.
Just take into consideration you future mods.
